i just discovered that eric actually owes me TWO steak dinners! How could i ever forget? the benefits of having a blog... who wants to go to House of Prime Rib on Sunday, May 2? That'll be the first of my TWO free dinners.

by the way, eric tells me my blog is boring now. unfortunately, nothing exciting in my life is happening... my life is basically work, get home late, eat dinner, (or eat dinner at work and then get home late) and sleep. maybe if eric would pay me my steak dinner he owes me, i'd have something interesting to write about. he's already flaked out twice.

*edit* hm now i realized why my blog is so boring... it's because i haven't talked to olivia in a while... for some reason, ppl really seem to like our converstaions. the adventures of olivia and karen has been lacking lately... hopefully something to come soon. be on the lookout!

I'm officially going to start the "I Hate Volvos" fan club. Or anti-fan club. Alinna and I will be co-presidents... we each spent $1k on our cars this month. Not only is maintenance expensive, but all these little things in/on my car keep breaking... some rubber stuff falls out here, a piece of plastic falls on my head there, door hinge breaks off, keyless entry stops working (I didn't even bother fixing that when it broke a while ago - that would have been another couple hundred of dollars, and I already had to pay to fix it once. forget it, I know how to use a key to lock and unlock my door)... those things add up too! My car isn't THAT old - 1997...come on, make quality cars, please! Plus gas is getting hecka expensive... $2.20 for a gallon of tank? And my volvo only gets like 17-18 mpg - it's even worse since my commute to work now is all stop and go and local.

Rant over. I just hate how all my hard-earned work has to keep going to fixing my retarded car. And to think I didn't even have them fix everything that's wrong with it. Ugh.

congratulations to jean bean, who just became a new aunt this morning!! unfortunately, she forgot to ask what her new nephew's name is (paul & isabel were going to decide after the baby was born)... but it's okay. yay for them!

and congrats to my daddy, who was just inducted into oregon state's college of engeineering's hall of fame. i kinda doubt you'll ever see my name there in berkeley's college of engineering hall of fame (if they have one) ;) then again, i guess i'd have to be doing something related to engineering to be even considered. ha. oh well, everyone calls industrial engineering "imaginary engineering" anyway. hmm... maybe william hung will be on berkeley's COE's hall of fame one day...hahaha!

I got pulled over last week and was given a fix-it ticket for having an outdated registered car. it's been unregistered since november of last year! i still have an orange sticker while everyone else has blue or even yellow for 2005. oops. so i took a trip to AAA during lunch to get it renewed, since my coworker told me that you can get renew your car there and avoid DMV lines. of course the line was still hecka long, and then when i got to the counter, i discovered i needed a smog check as well. conveniently, AAA also does smog checks, so i tried to do a drop-in, but they were booked. thankfully because i then discovered it costs $80 to get your smog check done at AAA! what a ripoff! so now i have to go get my smog check, get a certificate, take it back to AAA, get my sticker, go to the police station, get a cop to sign off my ticket, pay the dumb $10 and mail it all in. man what a pain. guess i should have noticed earlier that my registration was expired. i never got the dmv notice in the mail... but i mean seriously, who notices these things? apparently the cop who pulled me over solely to tell me that my registration was expired.
