ramblings of my mind

i'm off to san diego! remember to root on the bears on thursday.

spent sunday & monday in napa & calistoga with my family... unfortunately, it rained the entire time there, so we didn't get the opportunity to really walk around the vineyards or enjoy the scenery. it was actually quite sad. we stayed in calistoga at a spa with hot springs, but of course it was pouring rain. there were still a lot of ppl who were in the outdoors one even though it was raining so hard, but i passed.

so i'm off to LA in the morning, driving down with bentao. yes, please wish me luck - 6 hours in a car with just him - dude, i'm no jenie. at least i'm driving, so if he gets real annoying i can kick him out :) hehe. staying with gma tomorrow nite, then we head down to SD on thurs to hook up with aud & a bunch of other old aacf and cal friends. should be a good time even though we're in the nosebleed seats in the opponents section! we're gonna try to see if the student section is bleachers. if so, you'll find us there instead :) checked the weather for bay area, LA and SD for the whole week. this is what i got: bay area - rain entire week non-stop. LA - rain/heavy rain entire week non-stop. SD - rain/heavy rain entire week except Thursday, which is no rain and partly sunny. Thanks God!! :)

go bears!

death to bcs!!

as much as cal got shafted this year, and i hate how we're not going to rose bowl, how great would it be to say that the BCS died because of Cal?

note: for those of you who have trunks like mine, where you can only open it either with your keyless remote, or by popping it open with a button from the inside of your car, check, double check, and triple check that you didn't drop your keys in the trunk before slamming it closed. either that, or make sure to unlock your doors when you pop open the trunk. i learned that lesson well yesterday.

second note: after you find a ride home so that you can get your spare key (thanks george!) and before your roommate drives you back to church to get your car (thanks jenie!) don't forget to bring your spare keys with you. i learned that lesson as well yesterday.

i'm real smart. that's why i went to cal.

did anyone watch the apprentice finale last night? talk about milking it for three hours. that easily could have been an hour. as much as i love the show, that finale was WAY too long and too scripted. i like how donald trump claimed that he "didn't" know who he was going to pick. and how they kept saying "well we were going to bring regis in after i hire someone, but let's bring him out now" or "well the other contestants were going to come out later, but let's bring them out now!" what a bad actor. and as much as i hated jen, you had to feel bad for her. he asked like 30 people their opinion and everyone said kelly. how much torture do you have to put her through?

but thankfully in the end kelly was hired. kind of obvious after all thirty people said they'd hire kelly. i did feel bad for that one guy that froze on television. some big wig from some big company, and just totally froze. regis and donald tried to cover it, but there's not much you can do.

and... i finally got a new cell phone. it's so nice to have a phone that:
1) recognizes my sim card
2) doesn't turn on and off by itself
3) have a color screen
4) has a battery life that lasts longer than a day
and....
5) has bluetooth! that's what i've been holding out for. i wanted a cheap flip phone with bluetooth (motorola v505), and i finally got it. for $20, and no fees (thanks nvidia! corporate plans are great), that's not bad. now i can finally hook it up with car. woohoo!

hmm... i would say something is a little fishy when i don't even have a bank account at washington mutual. and somehow they got my real peronsal email address, which i never use, even for bank accounts. not to add to the fact they claim that i must re-enter all my personal information on their oh-so-secure fake website. i clicked on the link just so i could fill in all sorts of bogus information, but unfortunately the website no longer works. too bad. that would have been fun. (the link shown below is not the actual link they take you to if you click on it. they try to be sneaky like that.)

my phone conversation with jean while she's driving home:

me: oh, i can hear "i can only imagine" playing in your car.
jean: yeah, you know... i decided i needed to be more holy. so now i'm listening to christian music.

hahahaha. wonderful, jean. at least i haven't heard a potty word come out of her mouth in a while. watch... now she'll say one just to spite me.

guess where i'm going with g.ma!

granted we'll be in the texas tech section, and this is pending she actually gets the tickets (um we're assuming she's the lowest priority since she's not a texas tech donor or season ticket holder)... but i doubt texas tech will sell out their section, so... san diego, here we come baby! we're real fans. unlike people named peter and drew who were only willing to go to the rose bowl, but not the holiday bowl. she has two more tickets if anyone else is interested... $54 after all fees. cheaper than ticketmaster (sold out), craigslist (extortion!), ebay (more extortion!) or even the cal ticket office. woohoo!

**edit** Update: the tickets are ours, and we only have one left. come join in on the fun! or, go to the texas tech site and buy yourselves some tickets. the bowl is sold out. go bears!

at least there is one good thing involving cal football these past few days

i'm still angry about this whole mess - because of the way cal got screwed. how can texas gain so many votes in the past three weeks, when in two of those weeks - cal routs stanford, while texas was idle, and cal won an away game, and texas again was idle? especially in the coaches poll, where surprise surprise, there is no accountability and votes are kept private. plus all that whining and groveling by the texas coach to gain votes. i smell something reaaaaaal fishy about this whole thing...

AUGH. holiday bowl? texas tech?? sigh. the biggest farce is that some barely ranked team like pitt gets to play in a bcs game. i can't believe cal is the #4 team in the nation and not only did they get screwed out of the rose bowl, or a bcs game, they get a consolation of a bad bowl against a bad team. not only that, jj arrington is not getting any kind of national attention, despite statistically being the best running back in the nation. he probably won't even be invited to the hesiman ceremony. but... what can you say. we're 10-1, much better than the 1-10 we were three years ago! this will just take a moment to get over though. holiday bowl is definitely a huge drop off from rose bowl. at least usc got the consolation of the rose bowl last year when they got jacked out of the championship game. guess joe kapp still can't drink tequila...

texas tech better get prepared to play against cal, because there will be some angry players out there. anyone want to vacation in san diego? say... around dec. 30??
